Tonka Island

As promised my news of this weekend, yes I’m a couple of days late.. Sorry

This weekend we went to Tonka Island, for a relax weekend. Bus an boat trip where fine. In the boat we even had a smooth breeze :)

We arrived at the island and saw this gigantic house with no windows! And yes it was ours for the weekend. Great! We unloaded the boat and put up all our stuff as hammocks and everything.
Ready to relax! We arrived quit late on Friday so didn’t do anything special. Just had a nice evening with some music and drinks.

On Saturday I was feeling awful. Tommy-, head-, throat ache. Oh I just felt miserable, so instead of doing a walk on the island I decided to stay in the house and take another nap in my hammock.
I also took some painkillers and by early afternoon I felt better. Then we took a nice long swim. Around 4pm we thought we had had enough sun and for all that swimming we got so tired we had to go back and rest in our hammock’s ;)
In the evening we had a nice meal, some chicken (off course!) and fries. We also organised a little party b/c one of my roommates had her birthday on Sunday. We even had cake!

On Sunday, we relaxed a bit more and left the island around 1 pm. We got home by 6 pm after a good relax weekend.
What did stroke my again on the way home was that there were a lot of small, dirty, almost fallen down houses. And next to them you have these big villa’s.. I just find that terrible. People who barely have enough money for food have to live next to people who have non of these problems at all... I guess.. But maybe that is just Suriname, as always..

But I did find it another good trip! :)

These week we also had the elections, I thought there would be more about it, but there wasn’t a lot of people in the street...

Last week on Thursday my work experience at Maxi Linder ended. And this week I officially had my last day of work experience. It was weird knowing you will never get back here. And probably never see these people anymore... Very very weird...

At this moment I only have 10 days left here... So fast everything went. I’m leaving tomorrow at 5 am! For my last trip! I’m going to climb a very high mountain if the weather allows it.. So fingers crossed... And Monday we have to relax form these hard weekend and I will go shopping :) And of course I tell you more about my last week here.
